Baling Wire vs. Bailing Wire

Baling wire and bailing wire have no differences other than an added “i”.  So if you’re new to the industry and are wondering which buy, it doesn’t matter – the function and manufacturing of the wire are the same. The correct spelling of this product is “baling” but many manufacturers spell it with “bailing”.

What is baling wire made of?

Baling wire, also known as soft wire, bale wire, and farm wire, is used for manually binding materials ranging from cardboard to hay bales. It can be made from either iron or steel and can come in either a galvanized or annealed finish. The type of baler wire you choose will depend on its purpose.

Galvanized Wire

During manufacturing, galvanized bale wire is submerged into a zinc bath to give it an additional protective coating. This zinc coating is what gives it it’s long life span. Due to its resistance to scratches, rust, and corrosion, galvanized wire is mostly used in any kind of packaging, waste management or recycling industries.

Black Annealed Baling Wire

Black annealed baling wire is also very durable in nature but has the added bonus of being flexible and easier to use – making it one of the most popular forms of baler wire. It has a light, even coating of oil which helps it pass through your baler machine or cardboard compactor.
