Frequently used in single- or double-RAM bales and auto-tie balers, Midwest Bale Tie’s box wire comes in either a black annealed or galvanized finish and is offered in boxed coils of either 50 pounds or 100 pounds, in 10-gauge to 12-gauge, and 14.5-gauge (6,500 feet), commonly referred to as farmers wire/farm baler wire. Our 50-pound coils are available in 45 boxes or 54 boxes per pallet, and 100-pound coils are available in 36 boxes per pallet. Individual boxes and bulk quantities are available by request.

  • The main difference between the two materials is their chemical composition and the amount of carbon each contains. Standard galvanized material has a carbon grade of 1005-1008 which yields a break strength of 500-800 lbs. Hi-tensile galvanized material has a carbon grade of 1060-1070 and yields a break strength of 1400-1900 lbs.
  • Stump dimensions will vary based upon finish and diameter of wire requested. We source product form a variety of domestic mills and each location uses unique stump based on their production system. The best way to avoid any confusion when initially ordering a stump would be to request specific dimensions up front and compare them to what your system is available to support. The standard stump dimensions would be 36”x48” with an inner diameter of 14”.

Black Annealed Stump Wire
  • Typically used in larger commercial size balers or compactors, Midwest Bale Ties black annealed stump wire is heavily oiled and available in thicknesses ranging from 11-gauge to 16-gauge. The wire is coiled around hollow steel carriers, with a total package weight of 1,200 to 2,300 pounds.
Hi-tensile Galvanized Stump Wire
  • Midwest Bale Ties hi-tensile galvanized stump wire, also known as XHT wire or extra hi-tensile wire, comes in thicknesses of 11- or 12-gauge and is extremely rigid. Stump wire is shipped coiled around a hollow carrier, for a total stump weight of 1,200 to 2,300 pounds.

Typically used in larger commercial size balers or compactors, Midwest Bale Ties black annealed stump wire is lightly oiled and available in thicknesses ranging from 11-gauge to 16-gauge. The wire is coiled around hollow steel carriers, with a total package weight of 1,200 to 2,300 pounds.
